One of Tokyo's traditional "Three Grand Festivals", the Sanja Matsuri sees beautiful gold- and black-lacquered mikoshi shrines paraded through the streets of Asakusa. Hundreds of thousands of spectators turn up to join in the drinking, dancing and lively festivities.
